Green PVC conveyor belts are the "workhorse" of the light-to-medium duty industrial world.¹ Made from a combination of polyester fabric (the "carcass") and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) coatings, they are favored for their balance of durability, cost-effectiveness, and versatility.²

A typical belt is built in layers to provide both structural strength and surface protection.³

•  Top Cover (PVC): The green layer that contacts the product.⁴ It can be smooth, matte, or patterned.⁵

   

• Carcass (Fabric Plies): Usually 1 to 4 layers of woven polyester or nylon. These provide the tensile strength to prevent the belt from stretching under load.

• Bottom Cover: Can be a low-friction fabric (for sliding over metal beds) or a PVC coating (for extra grip on drive pulleys).

The texture of a green PVC belt is chosen based on the angle of the conveyor and the type of product being moved.

• Temperature Range: Typically -15°C to +80°C.⁹ PVC becomes brittle in extreme cold and too soft in extreme heat.
